House of Color is a retail flooring store located in Findlay, Ohio. We proudly serve Findlay and its surrounding communities in both residential and commercial replacement flooring as well as new construction flooring. With a dedication to quality and customer service we have developed a reputation within the flooring community that is second to none.
A little about our past....
House of Color was formally known as Myers House of Color. Myers House of Color was formed in 1963 by the Myers family and would remain that way until January 2000. Along with flooring, Myers House of Color also sold paint, window treatments, and wall paper. Myers House of Color had a very prestigious reputation for quality and customer service.
To build upon this reputation, they hired Sharon Miles in 1990 to head up their small flooring department. She had previous flooring industry experience managing another flooring store and would be a valuable asset to the Myers family and their store. Sharon continued to work for Myers House of Color until January 2000. Recognizing the potential of the flooring business that she had help create, she purchased the business from the Myers family and changed the name to House of Color. The paint, window treatments and wall paper divisions were then dissolved.
The original location of the store was on Tiffin Avenue and then moved behind the Findlay Village Mall in the Croy Dr. strip mall. After the purchase, House of Color would remain in the location for 1 year. With the business growing, this facility would soon not accommodate the space required. Sensing this, Sharon found their current location on Walnut St. and in January 2002 House of Color celebrating their opening at its current location at 406 Walnut Street.
Meet Our Staff.....
Sharon Miles
Sharon began in the flooring industry in 1985 when she worked
managing a flooring store located in North Baltimore,
Ohio. This store was
eventually bought out by a competitor and she became the general manager.
She transferred to this stores Findlay office and remained working with them until
1990 when she was approached by Myers House of Color to head their flooring
department. She would continue to manage and grow the flooring division of
Myers House of Color until January 2000.
At this time she approached the Myers family and purchased the name House of Color and the flooring division. To date, she has continued to manage the major retail accounts and the overall operations of the business.
Mike Miles
Mike Miles, Sharon's son, originally started working for the
company part time in January 2000. At this time he was going to college at
the University of Findlay in an unrelated field. After working part time
for the company, he would eventually change his plans and his major and decided
to make a career in the flooring industry. In December 2002 he graduated
with a degree in small business and entrepreneurship from the University of
Findlay.
Upon graduation, Mike began working full time for House of Color and took over managing the day to day operations of the store. To date he handles the general management including ordering, selling, installation, IT management, among other daily tasks.
Sue
Sue Mason had begun working for Myers House of Color in November 1999. She would remain with House of Color through its purchase and now handles all of the book keeping and accounts payable for the company. Sue handles daily tasks such as paying bills, payroll, taxes, and other general accounting functions.
Bob
Bob started in January of 2006 and his primary job functions include the unloading of trucks, warehouse management, general measuring, as well as helping the installers with materials.
