carpeting is offered in a wide verity of appearances and patterns. The
trend within this category is towards the softer and more elegant designer
berbers. While berber carpeting generally has been known as being a "harder" carpet choice, the newer nylon berbers are
very elegant and very comfortable to live on. They are a good choice for
enhanced durability, however it should be
known that they do not seam up as well as other types of carpeting
constructions. Therefore, lighting and seam placement will play a critical
roll in the installation and
selection of berber carpeting. Many berbers are offered in both 12 and 15
foot wide. With some only available in 12, 13' 6", Or 15'.
Berber carpeting is constructed from polypropylene or olefin (same as polypropylene) fiber and may include a small percentage of nylon fiber mixed in. While others are now made with 100% nylon fiber. The polypropylene fibers are hydrophobic; they repeal water and water based stains which allow for superior cleaning on some of the most common household stains. The blend with nylon gives this carpeting more resiliency, which helps to prolong the life of the carpet. Nylon, being the most resilient fiber, will provide superior wearability and comfort.
