Prefinished Hardwood
Pre-finished hardwood products are finished in ideal conditions
at the factory, where the temperature, humidity, and other factors that are hard
to control on the job site can be monitored. This finish is usually a much harder surface
and will withstand
more abuse than those products that are finished on site.
A major advantage - with pre-finished hardwood is the mess is virtually eliminated. You don't have to worry about staying off the floor until the urethane dries, which can take up to 2 days after the floor is coated, depending on the humidity levels. Once the floor is installed, it's ready to be walked on. Unfinished wood must be sanded, stained, and urethane applied which is very dirty and time consuming.
