Is luxury vinyl flooring durable?
Sometimes referred to simply as LVP or LVT, luxury vinyl ( LVF) is so durable it is considered one of the best choices for homes with kids and pets. This is a multi-layered product which, in itself, makes a product more firm and rigid, but at the top is the wear layer, a strong, transparent, melamine layer that protects the floor from scratches and scuffs. It also keeps spills from absorbing; they sit at the top, waiting to be wiped off.
What are all the initials?
LVP stands for luxury vinyl plank for when the vinyl is cut to mimic hardwood boards. LVT means luxury vinyl tile, and it's cut into groutable squares to echo stone or tile. All LVF images, whether plank or tile, are taken with digital photography and include micro beveling and embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured appearances. This vinyl follows all the trends, including the popular gray wood or whitewashed floors; marble and granite surfaces; and chevron, herringbone, geometric, lattice, and encaustic-style patterns.
Other benefits include:
1. Complete waterproof capabilities from bottom to top, so it's okay whether it's submerged, as in an appliance flood, or spilled on. Just wipe it dry.
2. Affordability. This looks so remarkably like genuine wood, stone, or tile sometimes; even the flooring experts have trouble discerning the difference. However, your wallet will know because you'll pay only a fraction of the price of the real thing.
3. Easy care. Just sweep daily and mop periodically with a manufacturer-approved cleaner.
4. Fast, Uncomplicated installation. This is especially true when installed as a floating floor where the pieces click together, mat, and then hover over the subfloor without nails or glue.
